Karen's nomination story

I'd like to nominate my sister who is an inspiration to me and many others. As a family we've been through some difficult times but Karen manages to turn negative situations in a positive. For example in 2009 we lost our Uncle very suddenly from a heart attack at the age of 52. This was a big shock and devastating for the whole family. But Karen wanted to make a difference to try and help others going through similar. She decided to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in 2010 and set herself a target of £5,000 to raise for the British Heart Foundation. She reached the summit despite terrible altitude sickness and raised £8,000 in total. She's already thinking of her next challenge and fundraising effort. It's not only in her personal life that she inspires people. She's an ambitious career girl who is known as the Digital Blonde for her reputation in digital marketing. This is something she's self-taught herself and now through the CIM will teach others. Karen lives in London and is very passionate and excited about the Olympic Games in 2012. It would be a great honour for her to be a torchbearer and I think a fantastic reward for someone who has given so much for others.
