Karen Booth

Karen has inspired over 2,500 young people this year to be part of their community and take active roles in supporting others. She runs two Youth Centres and is instrumental in supporting five others. She supports young people in times of difficulty, those excluded from school, young people in trouble with the law and young people making difficult choices. Karen always has a smile and a positive attitude however difficult things become. In two month this year she ran three separate residential experiences for young people including high ropes, archery, problem solving and canoe. Young people are inspired by her to turn their lives around. She canoes with young people sharing her love of the sport with an opportunity to introduce an activity to would be couch potatoes, she enthuses them with her energy and positivity , convincing them that whatever the difficulty they can overcome it and she will be there walking by their side. Many of the young people she supports have a disability, she takes time to get to know them and their capabilities and encourages them to realise their own potential. She is an inspiration to all of us
