Justin's nomination story

Justin & Justine have been actively involved in Artistic Roller Skating for all of their lives. Justine started at the age of 2 and Justin at 11. They are the current British Artistic Dance Couples Champions and have won this title twice. In the past they have skated in both World and European Championships.

Their involvement in the sport goes beyond their own competitive endeavours. They are volunteer coaches at the Meridian Roller Skating Club where they teach people to skate every Sunday. This includes skaters aged four to those in their 60's. Justine is in charge of safeguarding the children as she is also the club's Child Protection Officer. Justin also dedicates his time to the wider British Federation of Artistic Skating by supporting national competitions. Justin is also a trustee of the Federation - watching over the decisions that are made by the board and ensures that they are acting in the best interests of the sport.

The number of skaters attending the club over the last 12 months had doubled - many of these children haven't done any type of activities before. On top of this they have created a really enthusiastic support network of parents.

They have given their time outside of work and have applied skills from their working lives to deliver this success. They have been marvellous role models through their own sporting achievements, recently returning to competitive skating to win the British championship.
