Julie's nomination story

Julie is a dedicated teacher in a local special school teaching science and swimming inspiring less able children to aspire to do their best and try even when its very hard. Enthusiasm abounds when Julie is planning any event whether it is running through the pedestrian tunnel for a local charity, organising an end of year whole school trip or initiating a new idea to improve motivation in learning and lessons. I have recently survived lymphoma and Julie was supportive and patient keeping our 2 boys on track when i was recieving chemotherapy and radiotherapy. She runs 5 and 10 k regualrly and swims half a mile 3 times a week, keeping herself fit. She leads by example and always ensures everyone is doing their best. She would be honoured to carry the Olympic torch mostly because the children she teaches are never going to be Olympic champions but she gives them a self belief that they have qualities that are important. She chose to work in special education to make a difference. To enable even the least able a chance to shine. Julie is always prepared to help anyone and goes that bit further to make sure friends, neighbours and family are looked after leaving herself last. She is dedicated, caring, fair and honest.
