Julie's nomination story

Julie McElroy was born with Cerebral Palsy, which has left her with mobility issues and a speech impairment. Julie is also profoundly deaf. Despite this and doctors telling her parents that she would spend her life in a wheelchair, Julie has gone on to lead an active life. Julie has been a role model for many people, taking on incredible challenges. Here is just a small selection of Julie's incredible achievements: ?crossing the Andes in a televised Beyond the Boundaries expedition ?leading a team in a wheelchair assent of Ben Nevis and helping raise £111,000 for Scope and Capability Scotland ?tall ship sailing. Julie is currently planning a cycle challenge from Edinburgh to Glasgow, to raise funds for Bobath Scotland. Julie has also participated in and spoken on Radar's disabled leadership programme, campaigned to save her old school and is currently leading a disability wilderness initiative.
