Julie has been volunteering for Guide Dogs since 2007. Within her role as boarder, she provides a bed and breakfast service for dogs who are in their advanced stages of training. She looks after them in her own home at evenings and weekends for around 3 months, helping to prepare them for their future as a guide dog. Julie is a fantastic volunteer because she is happy to get involved in whatever you ask of her! As well as boarding a dog in training, she often boards working guide dogs while their owner is away or unwell. She has actually rehomed a dog that didn't make it as a guide dog pet! She is a great asset to the organisation and has helped with fundraising and has also helped with blindfolded walks, helping to show people what it is like to be blind or partially sighted and spreading awareness. Julie is a kind, friendly and enthusiastic volunteer and thoroughly deserves to be a torchbearer.
