Juanita took part in her first Macmillan cycling challenge after her father died of cancer. During his illness, Macmillan had provided the family with fantastic support. Her father had been an extremely keen cyclist while he was alive but it was not until after he died that Juanita discovered the joy of cycling. Now seven Macmillan rides on, Juanita has raised tens of thousands of pounds for the charity, tirelessly fundraising in a whole variety of different inventive ways, as well as volunteering in many other ways in her community, including leading local cycling groups for people who otherwise would be unlikely to get out of the house. Juanita is one of those wonderful people that I feel lucky to have crossed paths with. She is so generous with her time and energy. As well as fundraising for Macmillan she has also been the van support for a group of fourteen riders cycling from Lands End to John O` Groats, and was a key volunteer on the inaugural Deloitte Ride Across Britain in June 2010. For these two activities, and countless others in her local community, she brings a fantastic spirit and generosity, loved and admired by all who have the fortune to meet her. For me, there could be no better person to have a moment to shine as she has provided support to so many other people in their shining moments. She is a true inspiration.
