Juan Valdez, began working in the InterContiental V Centenario Santo Domingo as an Banquet Waiter in 1996, now serves as Restaurant Supervisor. During these 15 years of uninterrupted work Mr.Valdez has won several times Employee of the Month, Employee Winning Way, Employee of the Year and Employee Popularity . His high level of service ensure our customers satisfactory comments to him and his work.

Behind Juan Valdez´s professional history, we find a truly inspirational story, being a parent of 6 children, his older brother was diagnosed a parasite in the brain that caused his death, in his deathbed, asked his brother Juan to take care of his 6 children, and Juan promised.

Juan Valdez, took home his brother´s 6 children with his own to have 12 children. That children raised according to moral values and principles of family. Juan Valdez, had years of many sacrifices, hi has had to work in the hotel and other works, however, their children are now college students and they´re very proud of his father and the legacy he has left them.

For this reason, we nominated Mr. Juan Valdez to carry the Olympic torch on the London Games.
