Prof Maurice Savage is a truly inspirational gentleman working tirelessly for the past 40 years in The Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children he is responsible for starting up Northern Irelands first paediatric kidney transplant unit in 1980 and has saved many childrens lives and made many other childrens lives that much easier. A wonderful doctor but also goes that extra mile to support and be a friend to the children and their whole family he makes everything that bit easier to cope with in difficult times . I personnally could never thank Prof Savage enough for all his help and support for what he has done for my son and family over the past 8 years and i am sure i speak for everyone he has also helped and cared for over the past 40 years in the renal unit. Also has been involved in recent years in fundraising events raising money for charity by running marathons and fun runs. Now nearing retirement but still very fit and active i could not think of anyone more deserving to fit the position of being a tourchbearer for the northern ireland community as he has given Northern Ireland so much it would be wonderful to give him this opportunity to shine in return. Professor Maurice Savage, doctor, friend , and a true pillar to the community.
