Joe Hutchinson

Joseph is the most talented, inspirational young man and sporting talent I have ever had the pleasure of teaching in over 20 years. He is without doubt a 'special' talent and special young man, representing England and GB at athletics. He is simply a towering presence around the school and all young look up to him, literally. All the young people who come into contact with him, admire and are inspired by his tales of success but also about his ability to balance his academic studies and training. His teachers continue to be Inspired by him as not only is he simply an exceptional talent at so many sports, an elite athlete at Decathlon but also a humorous, highly intelligent and exceptionally dedicated and committed young man. He has been supported by his family throughout his sporting activities and without their help it would not have been possible. Joseph has travelled far and wide, he has trained hard and long and he has done all this with a total commitment to his academic studies. At the school we have continued to use the Olympics to inspire young people into sport and Joseph has been a huge part of that. If he is successful in being chosen to be a torch bearer then he will continue to inspire young people at Devizes school , our feeder primary schools and all our local community. Joseph has now been fortunate to now get a full sporting scholarship to the USA, if successful it will inspire him to become an Olympian and continue to inspire young people to choose sport.
