Jordyn's nomination story

At 14, NOMINEE founded a 501(c)3 non-profit organization to inspire youth to make a difference in their world. She then created WI P2D2 (Wisconsin Prescription Pill and Drug Disposal) to provide her community with a safe way to dispose of medicines because when expired drugs are dumped down the drain, they contaminate our groundwater! NOMINEE thought she was helping our environment, but she learned that these same drugs are abused by teens if left unsecured in homes. Prescription Drug Abuse is the newest epidemic in America. So far, NOMINEE has held 3 drug collection events, started programs in three communities, mentored students across the country to start their own programs, spread awareness across the country, helped P2D2 become a national program that is now in over 17 states, and has helped collect over 18,000 pounds of drugs in Wisconsin and over 302,500 pounds in the nation for 2011 alone.
