Jon's nomination story

Jon Green has been a Gateway to the Games Volunteer for two years and throughout this time has served the community and Council at a massive 70 events and 364 days supporting the work of the Olympic Ambition Team in our office. Jon joined the programme after experiencing a close family bereavement and through his determination and strength of character channelled his energy into volunteering. Jon gained the Volunteer of the Year award in 2009. Jon's dedication to his voluntary work is unprecedented and he now not only volunteers himself but also helps run the programme in a voluntary capacity and puts his heart and soul into recruiting new volunteers, arranging volunteer availability and giving every volunteer a post event certificate, to thank and motivate his peers. Being a Volunteer Coordinator he looks after the needs of others and prides himself on leading his team of volunteers to be the best they can be. He is a real asset to our team and a great ambassador for the Council and London 2012.
