Jon's nomination story

In 2008 at 44 years old, Jon suffered a severe stroke - after heading a football playing with our youngest son. After 5 months of rehab, he walked out of the stroke unit. He has set up the local branch of Different Strokes in Dorset, he sits on committees with the local stroke forum and regularly gets called to the stroke unit to help with a patient. Last year he was given an award of excellence for volunteer work with the local NHS trust. Jon`s aim whilst in rehab was to take our children to the park - an opportunity to be a Torchbearer would mean so much not just to Jon, but to our two sons who have had to develop a new relationship with their Dad, he is a hero for all he`s managed with his help - but to others a hero for all that he does for others.
