Jonathan Foster

Jona is a PhD student who is kind and thoughtful and always puts others first. He is heavily involved in the local community through running a local church home group for postgraduate students and working as a pastoral tutor for undergraduates. He also gives talks to local school students and the general public encouraging them to be interested in chemistry or in the relationship between science and faith. People in Durham may recognise him as the man who stood in the city centre collecting money for charity whilst dressed as a fairy. Jona supports many charities and recently cycled coast to coast in the pouring rain (in the fairy costume) to raise money for Oxfam. Jona is one of the most generous people I know with his time and his money and he always wants to help people in whichever way he can. I hope his story will inspire others to live their lives being considerate to others.
