Jonathan's nomination story

Jonathan is truly inspirational and always aims to be his best. He makes real differences in his community: serving as Chairman of the Board of Governors of a primary school, volunteering to a non-profit environmental nationwide organisation to protect open spaces, and organising our neighbours on the lane to build our community spirit and fund repairs. He has been an inspiration to me and others in the way he led the survivors of a horrific accident towards rebuilding their lives in the office and at home in spite of personal loss. He lost family members, like so many others, yet was able to find it within himself to support others during this time. He has shown respect for other people - around the world - and demonstrated fair play in very imaginative ways. With the Communist regime change in Laos in 1975, he found ways for his co-workers to keep their jobs and most importantly feed their families when no food could be found in the usual markets. He always has been the best he could be. He has been a fantastic single parent to his daughter since 1990 when her mother died. Their love for each other knows no bounds. His daughter is a confident, loving young woman because of him. He is intentional showing others that he cares and has purpose in all that he does. He loves to teach yet humble enough to learn. He brings people together to connect on a personal level over meaningful local issues. This brings out the best in those around him.
