Jonathan has for 30 years been a saving lives at sea. Jonathan is a self - effacing volunteer at Poole lifeboat station, keeping the people of Poole and Bournemouth safe at sea . Poole bay and harbour are extremely busy and our station here at Poole is the busiest Coastal RNLI safe station. Jonathan has been Coxswain since 1998 and in and around the lifeboat station since he was a small boy, following in his fathers footsteps 'John Clark' senior who was 2nd Coxswain at Poole. Jonathan is on duty 24/7 and his selfless dedication, leadership and calmness when faced with truly harrowing situations, not just huge seas,. A typical lifeboat year is a myriad of trying callouts, all diverse 'shouts' that don't always end well ,. The crew always try for some solace for the families waiting for loved ones to be brought home. We are immensely proud. All he ever does is give, his time, his knowledge, his reassurance to the other crew - it's in his blood. and he is good at it. To fit this huge commitment around a family in today's ever demanding society is hard but Jonathan has never made us feel second best, I guess because he grew up with it too. For his children to see him carry the Olympic torch would be truly amazing, a special lifetime moment Also for once it could be the opportunity for us to acknowledge our fantastic Coxswain and give him something back, a truly unbeleivable experience on land not out in the perilous sea for once. Thank you
