John Skinner

John started cricket coaching in our village in 2002 with 6 children; he now has up to 100 children turn up every Sunday evening. He has 2 under 9 teams, 2 under 11, 1 under 13 and 1 girls team. They play in both summer and winter leagues. He was the only qualified coach up until a month ago and gives up his time freely each week, planning and running the coaching sessions, encouraging all children to come along, take part, enjoy themselves and improve their skills. They vary in age from 4 to 14 years old. An under 9 team won the cup in June and the under 11s won both the summer and winter leagues last year. A 12 year old boy is captaining the North Yorkshire side and playing for Yorkshire. He also has 4 girls playing for North Yorkshire. The older juniors including one of the girls are now playing regularly for the village senior teams.
