John's nomination story

John's dedication to his job as a postman for 35yrs is borne out by the fact he has only ever had 5 day sick. He runs every day and is one of the top over 50 vets in Leicestershire. John started his charity work when at 14yrs old running in sponsored walks and is now running in Corporate Relays for the charity LOROS . He also ran the 3 Peak in 24hrs challenge in aid of Rainbows. John gives talks on Royal Mail and running in his spare time to women's groups in Leicestershire and helps and trains an U16 girl's football team. John has been the treasurer of the Leicester Post Office Sports & Social club since 1981 and goes beyond his treasurer duties to ensure the efficient running of the club promoting sports and running within the club. In the future I hope to be able to try and inspire other people with the same love of sport that I have had over the last 45 years. By helping to coach the U16 girls football team helps me to give then a grounding in what they can do to help them to love sport as much as I do If I can still love running after 45 + years then so can they. I help then in the correct way to stretch and train to avoid injury so they can carry their passion into the future without injury. I want to be able to carry on running until my legs or age dictate otherwise and then once I know I have to stop I will then use my voice to carry on the love that I have always had to encourage others.
