John Mcguckin

John is a member of the meltone singers in darlington.They sing to all stratas of our local community.he fronts the choir and brings happiness to all he comes into contact with, with his ready smile and good humour,even if his jokes stink. He has spent inumerable hours over the last 11 years and has provided 3 full size football pitches a multi use games area a childrens play area and is now working on funding a skate park area.he has of course the backing of the village council,but it is his dogged determination that made it possible.the park is on a 9 acre site. John spent 30 years in durham county fire brigade,providing devoted and loyal service to the community in general and the fire brigade in particular.a lot of durham people are pleased he was around when the chips were down. He is now chair of heighington parish council. He was involved with the local baden powell scout group,and accompanied them on many scout camping trips,the highlights being cycle hopping trips accross the many scotish islands He was training to be a missionary for 4 years with englands mill hill missionary society.Who knows what might have been had he been ordained!! John encourages all who come into cantact with him and he will always help out anyone in need.
