John went to his first Pompey match in 1928. The longest break in his support for the club - home or away - was during the Second World War where he was involved in the Normandy landings. John was a part time soldier in the Royal Hampshire Regiment for 22 years and has dedicated over 50 years to working for the club in one form or another. On his retirement in 1984, John began volunteering at the ground and is a much loved club steward who has looked after the boardroom and corporate guests for the last 18 years.
