John Harris is a veteran Paralympian who has inspired endless children and adults across Wales and England. He got a gold for Discus in 1984. He lives a very modest life giving much of his time for free and fundraising for a wide range of sport and disability causes. He has supported schools and community groups all over Wales through fundraising, talks and sponsored walks. Whoever he meets he inspires. He would do Britain proud. John has delivered many school assemblies for me across the South East as part of a project called Driving Inspiration, alongside many other younger Paralympians. With John you always you could here a pin drop, and see a tear in a few eyes. Young People with disabilities have been inspired by him to see that they can have an independent life and a career. Young non-disabled people are equally inspired by him. I wish I could attach some footage of him in action as I know you too would be equally inspired. He is an exceptional role model and should visit every school in the UK. You cannot help but love him and I am proud to have worked with him on occasions. He read the Paralympic Oath in 1984 with perfection and would perform the torch bearing role with the same dignity and pride.
