John's nomination story

I would like to nominate my Dad John Forster to carry the olympic torch for outstanding service within our community in Falmouth Cornwall as the Local Dairyman over the last 30 years. John is the essential life line for the many elderly who are too frail to reach the amenities from their out of town homes. He consistently not only delivers their milk, but picks and drops off shopping, as well as doing odd jobs such as gardening. He is out in all weathers, like when one christmas, when many of the hills were covered in black ice my dad fell and because he understands and loves his customers, he battled through the elements with bruised ribs to ensure everyone received their goods for christmas day. For the many he serves he is often the only friendly face they see. More recently he raised the alarm with the Police when one of his elderly customers had not answered the door. On further investigation they found she had fallen in the bathroom and had been unable to get up for 8 hours. If it wasn't for my dads observations it could have been a lot worst. Its things like this that make my Dad a local hero, and now we want to give something back to him. He has ran two london marathons and one cornish marathon raising money for local charities such as Cheshire homes and Victims support. Having lived in falmouth since 1979 my dad would be proud and honoured to carry the olympic torch for Cornwall.
