In the 38 years I have know my husband he has given his time freely to support mainly young people in the Lincoln area develop their swimming & tennis skills. For 25 years he was chairman of City of Lincoln Pentaqua Swimming Club where he was also a qualified teacher, timekeeper, judge & starter. This period saw the development of the club from 30 members in 1973 to 400 when he stepped down in 1998. During that period the club put 4 swimmers onto the GB Olympic team. The highlight was being in Atlanta in 1996 when Pentaqua swimmer Paul Palmer won a silver medal, Britain's first of that games, in the 400m freestyle. He was chairman of 3 national bodies. He is currently a British Swimming team manager, most recently managing the GB team against Germany in Essen in February 2011. Since 2003 he has been Secretary of Washingborough Tennis Club. During this time the club has steadily grown and is now thriving in all areas. He plays in and organises 2 league teams and organises the fortnightly adult and monthly junior tournaments. He edits the newsletter & website and keeps all members up to date with events with regular emails. He is a qualified Tennis Assistant and CRB registered. Since 2010 he has also been a member of the Lincolnshire LTA Council where he represents all the clubs in the Lincoln area. Since 2000 he has been chairman of Washingborough Playing Field Association, a registered charity, that manages the field on behalf of the Parish Council.
