Kirste has sadly passed awa. Her husband John Bowman is carrying the Flame in her memory. Kirste's story: When Kirste Snellgrove was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 35 her first question to her consultant was "Can I still run?". The answer was that marathons were out of the question. Having just completed her 21st marathon, Kirste has proved her consultant wrong time and again and raised more than £10,000 towards breast cancer research in the process. In 2009 Kirste's was told that her cancer has spread to her lungs and neck. Despite her diagnosis she remains incredibly positive and believes her passion for running has helped her to cope with her treatment. Kirste has rallied her family, friends and colleagues to join her on her fundraising mission and has recruited a team of 20 for September's Run to the Beat half marathon. She continues to inspire everyone who meets her and is a fantastic advocate for breast cancer research and the importance of breast awareness.
