Jo has been the leading light in Guernsey swimming for years. Her involvement with the Guernsey Swimming Club is virtually a full-time 'voluntary' occupation and she offers hours of voluntary help in schools too. Jo has helped to nurture one Olympian and countless Commonwealth Games swimmers from the GSC over the years and has high hopes for more. Her selfless dedication to her sport and commitment to helping others was recognised in 2010 when she won the Specsavers Unsung Hero award at the annual Guernsey Awards for Achievement. Under her direction the GSC is a happy, family club, where the older swimmers help to coach the youngest ones giving up their own free time. The club marks its 125th anniversary in 2011 and her selection for the Olympic Torch Relay would be a fitting conclusion to the club's celebrations.
