Jodie was diagnosed with MS in 2006 at the age of 19. Whilst this was a devastating blow at such a young age she has shown tremendous strength and determination to live life to the full and supports MS in fundraising events. Jodie is now able to inject herself 3 times a week. This was very difficult as she had a phobia of needles and injections, and just looking at the equipment made her feel sick. She overcame this by undergoing clinical hypnotherapy. In the last few years, Jodie has raised money through many Cake Sales (in which she bakes the cakes herself), took part in several street collections standing outside shops in the cold for many hours, and took part in a number of sponsored runs for various charities. Jodie has also shown incredible dedication to a young colleague who has also just been diagnosed with MS. Over the last six months she has supported this person via phone, email and text to offer advice and a shoulder to cry on. This has been a very difficult time for the young person particularly as their family has found it difficult to accept and they have had nobody to turn to. Jodie's support has been absolutely invaluable to this young person and they have become lifelong friends.
