Jodi's nomination story

As part of the Young Ambassadors programme in Edinburgh since March 2009, Jodi has made an excellent contribution to developing sport within her local community, encouraging young people to lead an active lifestyle and inspiring her peers to do the same. Jodi has played an integral role in supporting, encouraging and enabling her school peers to lead an active lifestyle.

She has established a student sports forum at her school, led workshops at national sporting conferences, given press interviews and produced an inspirational DVD of her experiences as a Young Ambassador for Sport.

In addition to her advocacy role, Jodi has been instrumental in developing new sports programmes within the school and community. She has led sports festivals, delivered physical activity sessions at local church groups and has helped tutor the next wave of Young Ambassadors for Sport. Perhaps Jodi's biggest personal acheivement has been the creation of a local girls' football club at the Royal High School in Edinburgh. Jodi attained the coaching qualifications needed and the club includes more than 25 girls in weekly football. Jodi continues to coach the team, and has recruited and supported others to start coaching too.

With an interest in a career in sport and physical activity, Jodi has taken every opportunity to volunteer at events, attend training courses and working with local sports professionals to ensure more people have opportunities to take part in sport and physical activity. CR
