Earlier this year Jo took part in the Oxfam Trailwalker, a gruelling 100km non-stop hike across the South Downs. The route is the equivalent of walking 2.5 marathons whilst climbing both Ben Nevis and Snowdon. She and her team completed the challenge in under 23 hours, raising over £5000 for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust . This is an event that requires serious training, and she gave up numerous weekends over the preceding 6 months, racking up over 1,000 km of hiking before the event had even started.
See attached for a photo of Jo and her team crossing the finish line (she is 2nd from the right) after walking through a particularly wet and windy night.
This was a most impressive achievement and certainly worthy of a place in the torch relay! CR
