Inspired by the empowerment and euphoria that running and being active creates, NOMINEE, a star runner, student, and role model, takes initiative to ensure that those less fortunate than she have the opportunity to live a healthy lifestyle by providing them with the essential first step?a pair of shoes. What began as a simple idea to collect old sneakers has escalated into a monumental project, "Just Shoe It", that has collected over 6,600 pairs under NOMINEE's leadership, who utilizes the resources of her community to maximize shoe collection. The shoes are cleaned and then shipped to over three-dozen countries worldwide to provide footwear for thousands. Shoes not in good condition are recycled and ground up to create playgrounds. NOMINEE is not only a Coca-Cola Scholar and Athletics Silver Knight Honorable Mention, but works diligently everyday to create lasting positive change in the lives of those in need.
