Having started gymnastics at 3, by the age of 14 Jenny Kent was representing Cambridgeshire, when a knee injury led to her devoting herself to rowing instead. Her club coach describes her as "able, reliable, and incredibly helpful". Jenny contributes enthusiastically to her school's sporting life. A keen member of its hockey, tennis, swimming and netball teams, she is responsive to advice and strives to realise her own potential and help others achieve theirs. In 2010 Jenny ran in the Cambridge Chariots of Fire charity race and cycled the length of Britain to support the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. She also regularly volunteers at Addenbrooke's Hospital. With her fellow Sports Captain, she has organised an Olympic challenge: pupils contract to cover a certain distance which by next sports day will amount to 2012 kilometres. Combining sporting excellence with a commitment to the community, Jenny undoubtedly deserves to be an Olympic torch bearer.
