Jenny's nomination story

My wife has been running, and a member of Cleethorpes AC, for nearly 30 years. She has had breast cancer twice, and still ran 6 miles a day whilst having radiotherapy in Lincoln hosp., and completing the Swaledale Marathon 6 weeks after a mastectomy. She has raised money for the Breast Unit at Grimsby Hospital and other charities. In 1998 she suffered a horrific skiing accident, which included a triple fracture of the femur which would not mend, and leaving her in a wheelchair for nearly 2 years. She completed a triathlon- swimming, cycling and did the running part on crutches. After completing many more local races, and off-road marathon-distance fell runs, unfortunately arthritis has stopped a great deal of competitive running, but she still runs for fitness/enjoyment, and helps at Cleethorpes Club and Wold Vets in arranging and assisting at many of our local races. Many people would have given up long ago - not my wife!!
