Jemma's nomination story

Jemma would like a moment to shine because she is our 'star'. Her dream is to 'one day' swim in the Olympic Games and represent her country. She swims with the City of Leeds Swimming Club training every night after school and two mornings before school. She awakes at 4.00am for a forty mile round trip to training, goes to school and does it all again every evening. On top of this she regularly attends weekend swim galas. With all of this she has never missed a day at school and never missed completing a piece of homework. Her school say she is always lovely and happy and extremely hard working. She is a good and loyal friend who always has time to help other people...no matter what. She is incredibly caring and thoughtful and is a wonderful big sister always finding time to play with her younger brother. In reality, the chances of her ever making the Olympics are incredibly slim but if they were giving out medals for sheer drive, determination and enthusiasm she would be a gold medalist every time. Jemma hasn't done anything particularly outstanding in her life as yet which would make headlines, she is a normal girl from a normal family just doing what she loves and striving to be the best that she can be. If by being the person she is she can be involved in the 2012 Olympics in any way then her dreams for the future are starting to materialise. Who knows what the future will bring? she may well be a UK Olympic hopeful - only time and hard work will tell. Thankyou
