Janine is passionate about the development of netball in the Dumfries and Galloway Area from children through to adult. She has trained as a coach and umpire, encouraging others to do likewise and has introduced netball into local schools. She has established an adult league both summer and winter and from one team in the area there are now 6 teams playing regularly and reaping all the benefits of such exercise. Many of these player affiliate to Netball Scotland and Janine has formed a team called Galloway Ladies from these players and entered the squad into the Scottish Cup which means that we can play against some of the top teams in the country. She sat her B grade umpire test so that the team could enter the Scottish Cup this requires dedication, travel long distances to practice on quality matches, despite having 4 children herself. Janine's enthusiasm developing netball amongst the local children is amazing. She has fundraised to get equipment for the juniors. She holds fun sessions for primary school children, they worship her. She has developed a team in the Douglas Ewart High School and then went on the build an U17 sqaud from across the county. These players, with Janine's guidance are learning umpiring and coaching skills as well as developing their playing. She instils the will to win but not at all cost, the girls learn than good sportsmanship and teamwork are also important. Janine also coaches rugby at the High School and has developed a girls team there
