Jan Sutcliffe - would love to be a torch bearer. She is an inspirational, caring person who has had a positive effect on the lives of me and many others. Jan is a primary school teacher and has been a swimming teacher for 25 years. 800+ children have been taught to swim and during this time she has instigated many charity events including: two 'Swimathons', three triathlons, the London Marathon, three half marathons, a five mile swim, six Race for Life runs, 40 mile walk, Three Peaks Walk, two midnight 20 mile walks, Manchester-Blackpool cycle race and two Great North Swims. Marie Curie, Macmillan Trust, Children with Leukaemia, Epilepsy Research, Brest Cancer and a special school in Morocco have all benefited from the thousands of pounds her efforts have raised. Some events have been done alone but more importantly she has inspired many others to take part and be sponsored. Jan is a very good friend and very good person who would be so proud to take part in this part of the London Olympics 2012. Jan inspires others through her own efforts and I am proud to be her friend.
