Janet's nomination story

Janet is heavily involved with raising money for several charities - local and national - through a wide variety of fundraising activities including cake sales, car boot sales, garage tea parties, running numerous 10k and half marathons and is now in training to cycle across Kenya next year. She takes great comfort in being abel to give back to the charities and hospitals that have greatly served her family. So far Janet has raised almost £19,000 for Women Vs Cancer, Alzheimer's Society, Liverpool Alder Hey Hospital and Manchester Chiildren's Hospital. She also took part in the Born to Shine phone in taking in £265 for Save the Children.

Janet also coached the Middleton Town Under 9's Football Team during the 2010-11 season - spending 3 hours every Sunday morning and 2 hours on Tuesday evenings, plus time preparing training programs. Without her the Under 9's in Middleton Park would not have been able to play.

Janet has been interviewed by the 2012 London Olympics, and is waiting to hear if she has been selected to be a First Aider for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Overall Janet has dedicated a huge amount of personal time on an ongoing basis and shows long term commitment. Fundraising activities are personally challenging, but she applies all her skills to the wide variety of causes (local and national; sport and health; women and children)
