Jamie's nomination story

Jamie was one of the first Youth Sport Trust Young Ambassador for Sport. This has meant that he has been been involved in promoting the Olympic values of - RESPECT, EXCELLENCE AND FRIENDSHIP plus the para-olympic values of DETERMNATION, COURAGE, INSPIRATION & EQUALITY - in Highland over the past 3 years. To be able to do this he had to take part in team building days which included raising my awareness of the history of the Olympic Games and meeting and working with various Olympics Athletes. He have attended 3 national Conferences on the subject and recently took the lead on the 1st Regional conference in Scotland for Young Ambassadors. In his role as a YA for the Olympics he has organised and delivered mini - Olympic events in my local primary schools, promoted fairplay, awarded Sports Star Certificates and delivered various sporting activities around the theme of good sportsmanship. He also planned and delivered a Olympics Event to Primary school pupils in Malawi with minimum resources. Jamie has been part of the Sports Leaders Project for three years. He has volunteered in local primary schools, secondary and the wider Community. Jamie is a self motivated and confident individual who quickly builds a rapport with those he works with. Jamie has proved to be an extremely reliable and mature student who not only works well as part of a team but likewise on his own initiative. He will without doubt be an asset to any team he is part of. Jamie has displayed excellent communication skills and has gained confidence in working with children, young people, school staff and parents from different cultural backgrounds. Jamie was one of the main driving forces behind a massive fundraising appeal that resulted in a 3 week trip to Malawi in June 2010 - working in schools and orphanages.
