Jamie's nomination story

Jamie has overcome adversity in many forms. Being adopted very successfully, only to lose her parents tragically; she then suffered sexual abuse resulting in her turning to alcohol, and ending up on the 'streets of London'. From this severe decline Jamie pulled her self out of the gutter only to become a British Female Boxing Champion! After 25 years in this very hard sport Jamie is now known as a Female Boxing Pioneer. Having competed in the 'underground days' where there was no care for 'the boxer'. Jamie was very badly mis-matched; but Jamie nicknamed 'Rocky' continued to persevere for her dream; achieving a well deserved W.I.B.F British Title! Jamie boxed in America and became Muhammad Alis' Daughter Laila and Jo Fraziers' Daughter Jackie sparring partners. Then ultimately receiving an award in Madison Square Garden, New York for Boxing/Coaching and Humanatarian acievements. On return to England Jamie became a volunteer trustee at the local community centre; she has organised 'community boxing' for the children/teenagers/adults to help them keep out of trouble. Jamie has been a Volunteer for 'Shopmobility' in Tunbridge Wells for 15yrs, helping disabled people. Female Boxing is now an Olympic Sport.. Without people like Jamie this would never have happened. I know that Jamie would find it the 'greatest honour' to help carry the torch. There is so much more I could have written but not in 150 words! Written on behalf of Jamies' friends and colleagues.Thankyou very much!
