Jamie's nomination story

Jamie was the youngest servicemen to be injured in Iraq when at 18 he suffered horrendous injuries in two mortar blasts. Jamie had been serving with the Royal Green Jackets in the city for just two months when the incident happened. The first mortar ripped through his right hand, tore open his stomach - severely damaging his intestines and pelvis. Another mortar blasted off his left buttock and damaged nerves in his leg. He still cannot feel his left foot. Five years on he is rebuilding his life and pilots a hovercraft on Burnham-on-Sea beach. May only be able to walk.
