James's nomination story

James has severe learning disabilities. Despite his disability he is successful in sport especially Athletics - his main events being 100m and 200m sprints. He trains and competes with Barrow and Furness Striders but also runs for MENCAP England Squad and INAS-FID GB Team and has competed around the world, last year his perseverence in his sport enabled him to win the bronze medal at the INAS-FID European Open Athletics Championships in the 200m sprint. However he has been disappointed as his ambition was to compete in the Paralympics 2012 but severe learning disability has only just been reincluded to the Paralympics but unfortunatley the short sprints have not been allocated as an event for them, therefore, being a torchbearer would make up for him not being able to compete in the paralympics, James loves being cheered on by a crowd, and this would be a wonderful boost for him.
