Last year my husband and I were on day 3 of the Coast to Coast walk made famous by Alfred Wainwright. We had climbed out of Borrowdale and were walking over to Grasmere in typically wet Lake District weather when we spotted a figure carrying a large object strapped to his back. We got nearer and we could make out that it was a cello case. We discovered that he was a member of a group of three cellists, called Extreme Cello who were walking the 192 mile route carrying and playing their cellos as they went and raising money for two charities, Aspire who support people with spinal injuries and PACT who provide services for families whose children have been diagnosed with cancer. This inspirational trio provoke joy, laughter and incredulity in equal measures. This was not the first challenge that they had undertaken with their cellos. I would like to nominate all of Extreme Cello to carry the Olympic torch whilst carrying and playing their cellos but within the rules I have just chosen one of them http://www.extreme-cello.com
