Jim Herron

I nominate Jim, for his dedication to the City of Derry Athletics Club. He is an inspiration to all the young athletes in the club. He gives endlessly of his time, to do all the things necessary to run a successful club; from developing the athletes, running training sessions, planning individual training schedules and driving athletes to competitions anywhere in Ireland. He does all of this voluntarily. His reward is to see the many young athletes he has nurtured, achieve success at local, national and international level. He travels all over Ireland and the UK with athletes, sometimes with teams of up to 80 children, to enable them to take part in competitions. He always puts the athletes first and will do all he can without a second thought for himself, to facilitate the athletes. He is dedicated to the success of the club and all the athletes, young and old, and as such is invaluable to the club, to athletics and the local community. Jim never looks for praise or thanks, so this event is an ideal way to thank him for everything he has done over the years.
