I have been running Sport4NRG for 6.5 years, using sport to keep young people active, occupied, off the street and out of trouble. We reduced the re-offending rate from 14.6% to 4.8%, which is well below the national average. My sports provision is 'secret social work' as we don't just coach, I improve the self-esteem of all young people, I don't hire level 1 in-experienced coaches at our Streetgames sessions, I run them myself, including weekends and evenings, most recently missing a team 'end of seasson' trip to Bournemouth with my football team so I could take 16 boys to Wembley for the national Streetsoccer finals. All the kids ask how they can get a job like mine, so I am setting a good example, to work hard in your passion to be happy later in life. My project came 'runners up' in 'best sports project' into national lottery awards.
