I am nominating James Gilgannon as Olympic torchbearer. James works as a NHS Pharmacy tech and is well liked & respected in the trust. The pharmacy team holds quiz nights to raise money for charities nominated by staff (inc RSPCA, Lupus, MS). James is quiz compare, books venues, compiles quiz questions, encourages staff to attend & deposits funds raised. He turns fundraising into an enjoyable & social event that staff looks forward to. James volunteers every year on xmas day to deliver presents to sick children in hospital dressed as Santa much to the delight of the patients. In summer James can be found volunteering at race for life events across the country. He marshals or runs every weekend & is well recognised for bringing up the rear with the last walkers of the race. His enthusiasm has helped the least able to complete the race. James finds motivation to train for his annual 10K run to raise funds for Cancer research under the team name 'the 3 amigos' inc Mexican hats! James helps his local church with their IT systems, allows children to visit the animals on his farm, raises money for Bobby Moore bowel cancer charity, contributes to Shine moonlight walks & undoubtedly does more that I as nominator am not even aware of. James is always happy, helpful & unassuming. He never seeks praise or thanks for his huge contributions. I think that this tireless fundraising should not go unrecognised &can think of no one better to be an Olympic torchbearer than James Gilgannon.
