James's nomination story

As a junior Judo player James achieved 15th Mon and several awards and competed successfully and regularly in competitions in England and Wales, from the age of 8 until becoming involved in a serious road accident at the age of 16 which rendered him totally paralysed and in Rookwood Hospital for 2 years. Prior to his accident James had the potential to have made the Welsh Judo team. Although still in a wheelchair and being cared for by his loving parents and friends he is still making remarkable progress and is truly inspirational to others his motto being" Always look on the bright side of life". He trains regularly at the Sophia Gardens Wales sports centre in Cardiff and is an honorary life member of the Welsh Judo Association. Against all odds James now climbs. James would consider it an honour to carry the torch accompanied by his carer at the 2012 Olympics.
