James was a member of the hugely talented Team GB boxing squad at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. He entered the competition as an underdog and was a relative unknown to the British public, but a string of world class performances resulted in him becoming Olympic champion. James decided to turn professional in 2009, believing the opportunity to compete in forthcoming Olympic Games should be made available for young up-and-coming boxers so they can be inspired by his journey and build their own success story. It is through his Olympic achievement that he has become an inspiration to young people across the UK to achieve their goals, particularly those in North London where he grew up and still lives today.
