Jamie a blind ex-serviceman and father of four spreads joy and inspiration through his positivity humour and motivational words and actions. In 1986 as a Captain in the Army I lost my sight in an explosives accident. Since then I have taken part in events that many would think are impossible for a blind man. These have included the Marathon des Sables Gobi Challenge North Pole Marathon London Triathlon and Commando Challenge. Of course I'm proving something to myself however I also want to inspire others to make the most of their own lives even if their challenges are different from mine. I remember how frightening it was to walk on my own for the first time after the accident to the postbox round the corner and how pleased I was to make it safely home. I want others to see that it is only by taking the first steps on their journey that they can move forward in life.
