James's nomination story

I believe that my brother is a worthy candidate to carry the Olympic torch within his home county of Northumberland. During his time at school he gave so much to his local community. He set up an MP surgery scheme where local young people met up with their local representatives to debate, discuss and examine problems and areas that really mattered to them. Throughout the running of this event, many MPs became aware of the long ignored needs and ideas many of the young people within Northumberland have. James was also active in leading a Peer mentoring program at Prudhoe Community High school, in this role he was able to reach out to the young people within his school who were experiencing many difficulties and just needed a friend to talk to and seek guidance. James is also active within his local church and has voluntarily help run many events including the queens Jubilee celebration party and the annual children's holiday club. He also was a member of the Stocksfield Baptist Church Puppet Ministry, where he and the team shared Christianity with many surrounding villages including a puppets in the park event in nearby Hexham. Northumberland is a county made up of local people like James, people who do simple everyday volunteering activities that make all the difference in making a proud and passionate community. That's why I believe that he should carry the torch through Northumberland, to inspire people to be the change they want to see!
