Jim's nomination story

(W N Lindsay) Jim Brown has given a lifetime of dedication service to his local community which we consider makes him an excellent candidate for torchbearer. Jim is one of the Pillars of the Scottish Highland games world having been chairman of the Grampian Games Association for 25years, Honorary Vice President of the Braemar Royal Highland Society and twice president of the Scottish Games Association. He is the founder member of Drumtochy games and was instrumental is starting the Elgin games. Jim is chairman of the Grassic Gibbon Centre, president of the Fettercairn Burns club and active in the local agricultural clubs. Jim is active local charitable organisations such as the Laurencekirk Rotary club and Queen Elizabeth Court Residential Home. An accomplished after dinner speaker, Jim has a keen interest in all sports having been an active participant in rugby, football and cricket in his younger days.
