Jake's nomination story

I first met Jake in October 2010, he was a shy 12 year old who wanted to make a difference. Jake suggested to his dad that they should raise money for Butterwick Hospice, and they would do this by cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats! Cycling 960 miles is a challenge and for Jake completing it would make him one of the youngest known cyclists to have done so. Jake set himself the task of raising a lot of money, he involved his school with the fundraising, they did a indoor cycling challenge and helped his dad organise a Gala Ball. Jake completed the ride in May and raised £11,354 for the hospice. In the time since I first met Jake I have seen him grow into a confident young man who will tackle anything and takes challenges in his stride. I am nomiating Jake to carry the flame as he is a true inspiration to everyone and he proved you can achieved your dreams.
