I would like to nominate my son Jake(high jump hero,) to be selected for the honour of torch bearer. When he started Boston Grammaer School at the age of 11 he soon discovered a talent for all things athletical (especially the jumps). He soon joined and helped establish the local athletic club. While at school he qualified for The English Schools an amazing four times and the UK Games twice. In 2005 aged 14 Jake smashed the Under 15s Eastern Counties combined events record with five personal bests. He repeated this one year later for the under 17s, (these records still stand.) In 2007 Jake hit the headlines again when he achieved The Power of 10, in that same year he began travelling up to 150miles a week just for training. He soon achieved his greatest acalaid with a personal best jump of 2 metres, my family and his followers through the local papers were so proud yet again. In 2008 aged 18, whilst also being heavily involved in his other love, basketball, Jake suffered a knee injury and after an unsuccesful operation his young career was ended. Although he still does the lower impact events and helps train and inspire the younger kids he is devestated his future as an athlete is over. Untill his injury Jake was determined and convinced he would be part of the 2012 games, now with your help hopefully he may have a second chance, Dad
